Temazcal at Xalapa, Mexico

Built mainly as a workshop for Ojtli Centro Sustenable, in Banderilla , Xalapa, Mexico.

an area of rainfall more than 300 days of the year, building with Adobes is a challenge. Concrete blocks were used to build the small dome of 3.8 m in diameter. The temazcal has a fireplace in the back to heat the interiors and to provide the hot rock surface for the temazcal ritual. Built under 6000 Pesos, and in under 5 days with unskilled labor.

Also built was a shower and a ecosan toilet under a small catenary vault. Built at under 1200 Pesos, with unskilled labor.
